Time is money in the wood products business, particularly when it comes to building cabinets. We know from decades of working with woodworkers across that country that they keep one eye on production and the other on overhead costs such as labor, materials, and overtime. Both aspects need to be in top shape for a cabinet business to survive.
One question we constantly hear from customers is, “how can we reduce overhead and focus more on our production?”
The answer as I see it is simple: align yourself with a supplier who can deliver products and services that reduce your expenses and costs. What that means is find a manufacturer who can deliver custom cut sizes and prefinished panels that take those labor costs off the table. Yes, those services are still costs, but manufacturer costs are far different from smaller vendor costs.
Imagine if your parts order comes already sized, cut and finished, so all you have to do is focus on assembly. That’s where Timber Products comes in. We’re constantly adding new equipment and services to provide you with ready to assemble materials you need to do your job.
As an example, our Spectrum Division recently purchased a machine that bull-noses drawer sides and puts a clear UV finish on that edge. Why did we do this? Because our customers kept asking us for this product. The photos below show finished parts from this new machine.

These samples are of a C-2 Maple panel laid up on a Baltic birch substrate. You can get these panels in standard drawerside heights as well as custom heights and dado patterns. Distributors can also order these prepackaged in boxes of 10 in 8’ lengths.
The bottom line is our new equipment will deliver to you consistent quality and reduce your labor costs: you won’t need to finish after delivery and assembly will be simplified. That equals a savings in both time and money.
